The 2023 Sandler Santa Cruz Mountains Cuvée Ma Belle Chardonnay comes from the R Bar R Vineyard. This site is on the western slopes of the mountains, just northeast of Watsonville at about 1,000 feet in elevation. It's by far the coolest vineyard Sandler sources from, and the 2023 Chardonnay came in on November 6, the latest fruit Sandler has ever harvested. This Chardonnay is high in acidity with a palate full of rich fruits. Although it spent 31 months in barrel, none of the oak was new and it stays in the background. Drink this from 2026 through 2031.
